Welcome to a brief introduction to the Art and Research of Michelle Wiebe
My Art...
My fascination with waves has not abated and I am still happily working with acrylic to capture the energy of waves. The waves seem to be getting larger but perhaps less aggressive as I explore the shoreline.
Maintaining an active studio practice is integral to my studio teaching because it keeps me on the sharp edge while it entices me to explore new techniques.
My Research...
I continue to explore assessment in Art and am currently interested in further inquiry into the nature of self-assessment as a means of creating artists who can continue to grow and develop on their own. This fits my ongoing interest into assessment for learning and the nature of life long learning.
I am also expanding my focus on design in school art. This is not design as in 'the elements and principles of design' but design as a profession. Design in school art is a focus of study that is currently underdeveloped. Because we live in a designed world, I believe it is important for students to study and explore the meaning of design in their lives.
In addition, the connection between design thinking and creativity is a growing area of inquiry that melds inquiry, design, and creativity development in exciting ways.
